Trip Overview
Leave the homestay around 9 p.m. to the starting point. From here, it’s about a 4-hour hike through the forest to reach the Karen village called Ban Muang Peam.
We will follow some tracks up and downhill that can be steep at times. We will take time to appreciate the gorgeous scenery, and I will explain to you some local beliefs and traditions.
We will take a break over Tham Lod Valley for lunch. I will give all the information about the fauna and flora of the region.
After arriving at the village, we can visit a remote and beautiful cave (Long Yao) if you feel like it.
This is a rather unknown stream cave with amazing limestone formations (stalactites and stalagmites).
At the Karen village, you can also refresh yourself with a cold drink and go around to see the women weaving beautiful blankets and scarves.
I will explain to you what Karen life is like and answer any questions you may have about local customs.
After wandering in the village, you can either walk or ride a bamboo raft on the Lang River to go back to Tham Lod Village and Pen Cave Homestay.
