The climate in the Mae Hong Son province is tropical. In general the year can be divided into 3 distinct seasons. Hot and dry season from March to June, a rainy season from July to October, and a cooler and dry season from November to February.
During the hot dry season there is no more leaves in the trees. The flora dry out and it can be smoky.
The most enjoyable season is definitely from September to January: lush green nature, fresh breeze in the morning and in the evening.
It is definitely the best time to go kayaking or exploring the surrounds.
